Sony and Panasonic’s 4K OLED TVs blow our retinas away

Sony and Panasonic have perfected the recipe for the world's best television, and our eyes can't get enough

Sony and Panasonic have taken the true blacks and rich saturated colours of an OLED panel and pumped enough pixels into it to provide a staggering 3840×2160 resolution.

That’s right, 4K OLED tellies now exist and after having viewed them with our expertly trained gadget-weathered eyes, we can confirm that we’d sell our own grandmothers to spend a solid hour in front of them.

Both offerings sport a 56in OLED panel with a jaw dropping 4K resolution and although the specs are light due to its prototype status, Sony has confirmed that it’s using its homegrown oxide semiconductor TFTs and Super Top Emission technologies. Nope, we’re drawing blanks too, but it certainly sounds impressive and looks amazing in person.

The Panasonic 4K OLED model will also wow retinas with its deep blacks and vivid colours, although technical details and specs were light once again.

It’s safe to say that these visual holy grails won’t be making their way into our living rooms anytime soon, but when they do our eyes will be in for the time of their lives. We can’t wait.
