Fresh iPhone 5 pic suggests new camera flash placement

Snap-happy iPhone 4 owners should hold onto something steady before looking at these new renders

What should turn up in the hands of our favourite new source – Fonegadgets in Braintree, Essex – but this new pic of an iPhone Pro case supplied via a phone spares importer.

Far from taking minimalist smartphone design to its extremes, our pics show that Apple might actually be plonking a wider homescreen button on the front of the iPhone 5 – and if its true, our fat fingers will love it.

The bezel looks to have been further eaten up by a bigger screen – we’re keeping our money on a 4in Retina Display, similar to the iPhone 5 mock-up we saw in this video.

The case looks more roomy up top and since we reckon the speakers and dock connector are staying put down south, we’re excited about the possibilities here. It’s unlikely Apple will give us a bunch of extra ports or buttonry, but there’s the possibility of a second pair of speakers. Look out, HTC’s Beats Audio-infused Sensation XE.

What we have spotted is a possible separate LED flash for the iPhone 5’s camera. Along with rumours of an 8MP camera, we could be looking at a new placement for the flash, reducing red-eye effect and improving image lighting qualities.

We’ll keep on rummaging in our bag of iPhone 5 case pics and let you know what else we find.

He can also give you a definitive ranking of Super Mario games if that sounds more interesting. Please don't ask him anything about washing machines though. Or fridge freezers. Or Southampton F.C.'s transfer policy.
