10 best football apps for iPhone OS, Symbian and Google Android

The Premier League kicks-off in earnest this week and if wall-to-wall, non-stop football coverage isn’t quite enough for you, you can pump your phone full of match facts and gaming glory. Here’s our pick of the best iPhone, Symbian and Android football apps.

We wrote about this unwieldily named app last week. It’s a clever little Jeff Stelling endorsed app which will give you live updates on matches in England and Scotland, Europe, domestic and European cup matches and internationals. It also includes live news on transfers and which footballers have fallen over recently.

3D Penalty World Cup £0.59

In preparation for the almost inevitable upset when England yet again crash out of an international competition thanks to their proven inability to score penalties, demonstrate how it should be done. In 3D. Everyone loves 3D!

Manage Your Football Club £3.49

This slightly costly app lets you take control of your favourite team and develop a strategy to lead them to glory. A five-minute distraction or a life sucking, promotion-seeking European Cup run are just a finger swipe away.

Championship Manager 2009 Express £2.99

The footie strategy game condensed to an iPhone friendly version, like Manage Your Football Club, this app could seriously take over your life.

iFooty World Plus £1.19

Hey Statto, this app offers you stats and…um…that’s it. iFooty World Plus includes league tables, post-match results, live tex match commentary and stats for live games.

Fotmob £free

Another stats heavy app for the football fanatic, Footmob will give you the details for your favourite team. It’ll show you the current league table, live score updates and match facts. Visits to the pub just got a whole lot more nerdy.

Soccer Livescores £free

A basic app that, as the title suggests, shows you the latest scores in the football leagues you fancy watching.

A miniaturised mobile version of the full-fat footie classic. Slightly anaemic graphics but the gameplay is still good.

Top Of The League £free

Football strategy game in the mould of Championship Manager. Based on the English Football League. Also available for the Palm OS.

Soccer Pinball $5.00

Like football? Like pinball? Well, here they are together in a Frankenstein’s monster style mash up. It’s pretty much just a football themed pinball game but a good time waster nonetheless.
