1080p phones set to hit next year, courtesy of Samsung and LG

Our eyes are quivering at the mere thought of full HD smartphone screens, so it's a good thing Sammy and LG are planning to join the 1080p party

The pixel-saturated HTC J Butterfly with its 5.5in 1080p screen (pictured above) could have some company in the first half of next year as the rumour mill pips Samsung and LG to release their own 1080p-toting pocket powerhouses.

The tip comes courtesy of Korea’s MK News’ industry sources who claim Samsung will be sticking with its trusty AMOLED screen tech, while LG is likely to use LCD screens.

That’s all we have for the time being, but our eyes are already looking forward to bathing in full HD movies on our daily commute – assuming the batteries can keep up with all that pixel pushing, that is.
