AMD shows off palm sized nano PC at CES

This impossibly tiny nano PC prototype still manages to pack a punch

We’ve seen tiny PCs before but this reference design from AMD just takes the cake. It fits in the palm of your hand, yet still manages to pack enough power to run Windows 8.1 and even a game of FIFA 14 at 1080p.

Unlike Intel’s SD card-sized Edison PC – designed to power Internet of Things devices – AMD has been showing the slim nano PC sat on top of TVs at CES. It’s a remarkable feat of engineering and hopefully someone will pick up the reference design in 2014.

Powered by AMD’s Mullins chip (reckoned to be 250% faster than Intel Baytrail chips) this nano PC also manages to pack in a camera, a 256GB SSD, Bluetooth, WiFi and a DockPort connector.

And all of these fit into a design that’s not much bigger than a phablet – talk about stuffing things in. Who knows, they might even be able to cram Steam OS in there
