BlackBerrys have generally been the preserve of business types and those who like looking permanently harried on the train. But not any more. The BlackBerry Pearl is now up for grabs on pay–as–you–go at the Carphone Warehouse.

For those perplexed by the idea of the popular emailer on a PAYG deal, it’s simple. You front up £149.95 for either the silver Pearl 8110 or the Pink or Indigo Wi–Fi packing Pearl 8120. Then top up as usual, making sure to cough up £5 a month for unlimited email, Facebook and Myspace access.

The Indigo Pearl is an Orange exclusive for now, but we’re betting the deal will spread if it proves popular. All blowers have the famed half–QWERTY keyboard, GPS for syncing with BlackBerry Maps and a 2MP snapper round the back.

You can grab them now from Carphone Warehouse. It’s definitely a unique way of getting thoroughly chained to your email account.
