Budget plastic iPhone designs are inspired by the original iMac

We take a look at what Apple's iPhone on a budget could look like. Assuming it exists, of course

Budget iPhone speculation has gradually taken up more and more of the iRumour Mill’s time as of late, with everyone’s money tentatively placed on a cheaper iPhone with a plastic build to compete with the vast Android army.

Designer Nickolay Lamm from MyVoucherCodes has gathered all of the rumoured ingredients of the budget iPhone and baked these renders to give us all a better idea of what it could look like.

Inspired by the original iMac and following rumours of a see-through plastic shell, the older gadgeteers among you might recognise the famous ‘Bondi blue’ shell of the 1998 iMac in the first render above, which proudly displays the iPhone’s guts for all the world to see.

Lamm believes that Apple’s innovation has stagnated (echoing our sentiments) and that a coloured range of see-through budget iPhones will turn the tables on Apple’s competition by reminding them of the technology that’s packed into its products.

While it’s impossible to tell what the rumoured budget iPhone will look like (or if, indeed, it even exists), the thought of a multicouloued iMac throwback does tug at our gadget heartstrings.
