We live in a world dominated by technology, be it mobile phones, MP3 players, PMPs and gadgets starting with ‘i’. And our reliance on social networking, emails and instant messaging clients is growing by the day. So there’s little in life more frustrating than having your mobile phone/*insert gadget of choice* run out of battery during a pivotal moment.
Enter ChargeBox – a service designed to relieve you of your battery related woes (or nomophobia) when in-house charging is an unfeasible solution, or you’re stranded from a mains supply.
ChargeBox consists of a tower of 6 small lockers, each packed with a range of different chargers for different gadgets, including phones, iPods and games consoles. Just plug in to the charger that corresponds to your depleting gadget, pay a small £1 fee – in either cash or by SMS – for 40mins of charge time, lock the door and off you pop for a cup of coffee while you wait.
A new find-a-chargebox service has also been launched to coincide with ChargeBox, enabling you to find the three nearest places to grab some much needed juice for your tech. All you need to do is text ‘charge’ to 60066, followed by your town, postcode, or tube station (standard network rates apply). Chargebox will soon be launching a free iPhone app too. You’ll find Charge Box in areas including Paddington station, Oxford Street and Victoria station, as well as airports, universities and shopping centres.
Have you used ChargeBox before? If so, tell us all about it in the comments below.
