The Motorola X Phone will be fully customisable, Apple hires YSL CEO and Hulu VP, Ubisoft gets hacked for user emails and passwords, and China unveils 5.6mm thin smartphone.

Motorola X customisation

A Motorola X Phone advert, due out tomorrow, has leaked on The Verge. The exciting part is that it purports to be “the first smartphone you can design yourself”. Imagine specing out your phone like a PC – adding the power or battery that best suits you. It all fits with previous custom Nexus plans from Motorola owner Google. GTA V double disc

The most anticipated game of the year, GTA V, is so big it’ll be on two discs. But you won’t change them as one if fully installed on your Xbox 360 – just make sure you have 8GB free. The Blu-ray toting PS3 will use one disc but also requires an 8G install. Fewer loads times? Here’s hoping. [Source: CNET]

Apple Television and iWatch

According to Bloomberg the fruit giant has hired Yves Saint Lauren CEO Paul Deneve – presumably for helping design wearable tech, ahem, iWatch. It’s also hired Hulu VP Pete Distad – who must be working on Apple Television. Great timing as Apple nears a final rights deal with Time Warner. [Source: Bloomberg and Bloomberg]

Polaroid Polamatic

Polaroid has released its Polaroid Polamatic app for Android. That means snaps with 36 different borders including the classic white Polaroid. [Source: Engadget]

Ubisoft Hacked

A digital assassin has struck Ubisoft, killing its security and stealing users’ emails and passwords. The Assassin’s Creed maker urges any user who has an account with Ubisoft to change their passwords immediately. Luckily credit or debit card details aren’t stored by Ubisoft. Could this be hackers Skid Row back from their last Ubisoft hack in 2010? [Source: CNET]

21:9 AOC monitor

AOC has revealed a 21:9 monitor at 29in for US$400 (£260). The Q29630’s 2560×1080 screen that kicks out a 50,000,000:1 contrast ratio will let you split screen and even stream from your phone. It’s certainly cheaper than two monitors of this quality. [Source: Hothardware]

World’s thinnest smartphone

Chinese vendor Umeox Mobile has unveiled the world’s thinnest smartphone, the X5, at 5.6mm – quite a bit less than the previous title holder: the Huawei Ascend P6 at 6.18mm. The Umeox X5 features a 5.3in display, dual-core processor, 8MP camera and Android 4.2.2 – not bad considering it’ll barely show up in your pocket. [Source: Digitimes]

Smell-free socks

The Atlas sock is made from cotton, polyester and – get this – carbonised coffee. That means it helps filter and absorb sweat. The manufacturer, Ministry of Supply, even uses strain analysis, pressure mapping and thermal imaging to create something ridiculously comfortable.
