The future of digital is… paper
Fujitsu has developed a finger recognition system that turns any piece of paper into a touchscreen
E-ink – who needs it? Fujitsu’s new finger recognition system means that any bit of paper can function as a touchscreen, bringing the real world and the virtual one together.
The new system uses a camera and projector to track your finger and project lines and other graphics onto the page – letting you cut and paste, and even potentially use hyperlinks in the text.
While this could be great for posh-scanning, we’re more excited about the fact it only uses a low-res camera. With a bit of tinkering, the system could potentially be adapted for the likes of Google Glass and its 5MP snapper – making every surface a touchscreen.
With Fujitsu showing off its Laser Headset at MWC last month it looks like the system could jump to headgear sooner rather than later. Both the laser headset and this scanning tech are due out in 2014. Coincidence? We hope not.
