Hi-def Freeview may be some way off in the dim and distant future but Goodmans does not detain itself with such minor inconveniences. Its telly box already takes current, standard-definition output and upscales it to far more agreeable 1080i footage. And it’s just had a price chop. Down from £80 to a pocket-friendly £50. With HDMI it’s fair set to pipe its upscaled results to a waiting HD-ready set, squeezing every last pixel out of BBC 3’s plasticine blobs, and there’s the standard 7-day EPG for your channel-browsing needs.Alas, there’s no Top-Up TV slot, so no 1080i MTV or Setanta. But we’ll live.
