Online retailer Play.com has listed Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox, and while it hasn’t stuck up a price for the motion control camera, it has detailed a few previously unknown tech specs.
The listing claims that Kinect has a field of view of 57 degrees on the horizontal plane, and 43 degrees on the vertical plane, and that it’s tilted to 27 degrees to provide the best angle for tracking gamers.
Speaking of gamers, the site says the Kinect is limited to two players with skeletal tracking, but can keep tabs on up to six people at once. Everyone will have to be within a field of view that stretches from 4ft to 11.5ft away from the camera, though.
If you’re interested, the data streaming capabilities are also detailed: 320 x 240 at 30fps with 16-bit depth, 640 x 480 at 30fps with 32-bit depth, and 16-bit audio at 16kHz.
