It’s possibly one of the world’s most expensive iPod accessories – well, save for the Mazda MX-5 and Fatman Mothership – but audiophile trinkets-maker Krell reckons it’s worth it.
The Krell iPod Dock – or ‘KID’ – promises to do for your player what a Stradivarius does for Bach’s Gavotte en Rondeau.
The secret is in its circuitry. Unlike other docks, the KID whips its audio straight from the iPod’s digital-to-analogue converter chip. From there it’s carried via noise-eliminating balanced differential Class-A wires direct to the silver box’s outputs. Such clean pipes should ensure clean, clear sound, regardless of the volume.
Sounds like the perfect accompaniment for a set of hi-fi speakers and Apple’s high-end iTunes Plus tracks. Lottery winners and Russian oil tycoons: start queuing behind us.
