Kymera Electric Jet Board saves you from paddling
Why swim when you can cruise the waves at speeds of up to 15mph?

Body boarding is endlessly entertaining. Flapping your arms around in an attempt to traverse the briny, less so. Fortunately, there’s now a more dignified way to travel the ocean waves, in the form of the Kymera Electric Jet Board.
This KickStarter-funded water-going vessel lets you lie down and cruise over waves at speeds of up to 15mph, thanks to an internal brushless electric motor. Perfect if you happen to be rubbish at swimming – or if you’re a coast guard that wants to avoid waiting for a boat to turn up when someone needs saving. These two interest groups dovetail nicely, we feel.
Captaining the Kymera is relatively straightforward. You steer by leaning in your intended direction of travel, and to speed up you simply use the trigger throttle. Making siren noises as you go is, of course, optional.
The Kymera weighs 29lbs, with a further 19lbs taken up by a hefty lithium polymer battery, giving a range of 5 to 6 miles. In case that isn’t enough play time for you, if you opt for the pricier solar power charging kit, you can recharge the battery via the sun’s rays and be back in the sea within three and a half hours.
However, the Kymera is by no means the cheapest toy, with prices starting at $2,500 – and rising to $10,000 if you want the solar power charging equipment.
Now if only somebody could modify it to take you underwater, James Bond style…
