Lego Dimensions’ incredible voice cast includes loads of original actors

Authentic character voices for Back to the Future, The Lego Movie, Jurassic World, and more

Set to release late this month, Lego Dimensions looks to one-up the franchise-mashing formula established by Disney Infinity, bringing together more than a dozen media properties in a new toys-to-life video game.

And Warner Bros. is really going the extra mile to ensure that the individual movies and TV series represented in the game feel authentic, despite the mixing and matching between them. Today, the publisher announced the game’s voice cast, which is as extensive as it is truly impressive and unexpected.

Rather than utilize sound-alike actors for various iconic roles, Warner is tapping the original actors and actresses in many cases. For example, for the Back to the Future content, both Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd are featured. Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Charlie Day, and Alison Brie all voice their characters from The Lego Movie, as well.

Pratt pulls double-duty, actually: he, Irrfan Khan, and other members of the Jurassic World cast will all voice their characters, as well. Warner says that members of the Ghostbusters, The Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons, and Scooby-Doo casts are also reprising their roles for the games. Meanwhile, Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, and Michelle Gomez represent Doctor Who, along with "many other original actors."

And from the gaming world, we’re thrilled to hear that the Portal content includes Ellen McClain as GLaDOS and Stephen Merchant as Wheatley – both brilliant performances in the original games. Meanwhile, Troy Baker will voice Batman, while Tara Strong takes the role of Harley Quinn. The new trailer above not only spotlights some of the cast, but also makes the game look utterly crazy – in a good way, of course.

All told, the vast voice cast ought to make the plastic toy-enhanced game all the more compelling when it releases on 27 September for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Be sure to read our preview from July for more on the latest toys-to-life challenger.
