MWC 2012 – HTC One X is officially revealed

The Taiwanese phone giant's quad-core flagship powerhouse is revealed at long last

HTC’s One X flagship Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone (previously known as the HTC Endeavour) has just been officially revealed alongside its One S and One V series brethren, and its spec sheet has got us drooling.

To start with, the 9.3mm thin polycarbonate HTC One X is powered by a 1.5Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor alongside 1GB RAM with 32GB of memory – more than enough grunt to run Ice Cream Sandwich on its curved spacious 4.7in Super LCD Gorilla Glass screen.

As with the One S and One V, HTC has strived to enhance the camera experience from the bottom up with an 8MP snapper packed full of fancy imaging tech. An industry-leading f/2.0 lens will absorb up to 44 per cent more light resulting in decent shots in lower light, and lightening fast boot and auto-focus times are promised for quick-draw casual photographers.

A new HTC image chip should also improve image quality and you’ll be able to take photos while recording 720p video simultaneously. Holding down the shutter button for a 99 photo-max burst mode also sounds like a simple but welcome addition to the camera feature roster. A smart flash system offering balanced brightness depending on the subject should aslo prevent white-out portraits.

All three newly announced HTC phones will be infused with Beats audio goodness throughout and a new version of HTC sync will allow you to wirelessly sync music from your PC for cable-free updating. They’ll also be getting 25GB of free Dropbox storage and will be rocking HTC’s Sense 4.0 Android skin.

All three of the HTC One series handsets will be released in Europe in early-April for an undisclosed price as of yet, so stay tuned for more details.
