We thought those crazy Finns had grown out of their unconventional keypad obsession (remember the 3650?) but the release of the 7500 and 7900 has sent our fingers cowering once more.Thankfully it seems the crazy-paved arrays aren’t quite as out-there as some previous efforts – well, at least the triangular numbers fall roughly where they’re supposed to.The sharp angles continue to the rest of the all-black mobile pairing – all part of Nokia’s funky new Prism theme. The pricier 7900 gets an anodized aluminium covering with laser etched triangles, while the 7500 goes for shiny plastic and printed patterns. The 2MP cameras and nine hour music playing abilities won’t thrill but we suspect fans will be more interested in the pulsing light shows and the 7900’s living wallpaper screen that changes throughout the day.Nokia reckons they’re tuned in to the ‘cultural zeitgeist’ with a collection that ‘artfully plays with juxtaposition’. We’ll just slip them right into the love ’em or hate ’em Marmite category then.Essentials Nokia Prism 7500, 7900 Price: £165, £325 (sim free) On sale: Q3 2007 Contact: NokiaRelated stories: Nokia gives glimpse of the future?
