Panasonic G6 mirrorless camera announced

A new Lumix G interchangeable lens snapper offers easy sharing via Wi-Fi and NFC

Panasonic has announced a brace of new digital cameras: the G6 is a new addition to its Lumix G range of mirrorless interchangeable lens models; and the LF1 is a high-end point-and-shoot compact with Wi-Fi and NFC for easier photo sharing. Check out today’s Office Cat to learn more about the LF1.

The Panasonic G6 offers a 16MP sensor that pairs with the new Venus Engine to deliver what its makers describe as, “even better picture quality” than previous Lumix G models (well OK then). There’s an extended ISO range of 160 to 25600, which should help low light shooting, plus faster autofocus and a 7fps continuous burst mode. It’ll also record 1080p video at 50fps or 24fps.

On the design front the G6 rocks an OLED electronic viewfinder which should offer a faster, brighter alternative to the LCD. Plus there’s NFC and Wi-Fi to let you pair and share photos directly to a smartphone or tablet – or for remote shooting.

No price or release date for the camera has been announced yet.
