Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 unveiled

The team over at Panny’s labs have been busy tinkering away...

Panasonic has catered for those of us craving something a bit more feature-packed than the Lumix DMC-LS5 budget snapper announced earlier today by popping the lid off the new Lumix DMC-FZ48 – an upgrade over last year’s FZ45. A new hi-speed CCD capable of shooting full HD video should make up for the slight drop to 12.1MP, and an improved 3in 460k LCD should display and frame shots rather nicely.

A photo mode which stitches together a 3D image from 20 consecutive photos while panning will no doubt appeal to our inner geeks and the 24x optical zoom should. An intelligent zoom function is also able to beef up the power from 24x to 32x and we’re told that the picture quality won’t suffer too much from the added digital zoom. Again, no pricing or release details as of yet but we’ll diligently scan the horizon for more details as they arrive.
