Panasonic UT-PB1 Android ebook tablet emerges

An Android ebook reader? Or a 7in tablet? Panasonic's first venture into modern touchscreen computing has us flummoxed

Panasonic’s UT-PB1 has been doing a twirl. But is it for book-lovers who want some tablet features? Or tablet lovers who want a decent ebook reader thrown into the mix?

The prototype – spotted in Japan by DigInfo TV – packed in Android OS, a dual-core processor, webcam, Wi-Fi, support for email, a micro SD slot and 600 ebook titles for users to preview (and we presume buy). The 7in screen didn’t exactly blow our minds with its originality but we’ll still be excited if this ebook reader makes the hike from Japan.
