Apple’s video-playing iPod is here at last. And we were the lucky recipients of the first review sample to land in the UK. We’ve been fiddling with it constantly for two days, listening to music, squinting at its diidy video and generally boring eveyone senseless. Here’s what we reckon.
Size
The first thing that you notice when you take the new video-playing iPod out of is box is that it seems significantly wider than its predecessor. But it’s actually a trick of the eye – the larger screen and smaller clickwheel alter the proportions, but this new 60GB ‘Pod is actually smaller than the old 30GB version. And new 30GB is almost Nano-thin.
Music
There’s no real change in the iPod’s audio performance – it delivers a lively, clear sound that’s not as bass-heavy as some rivals. Apple has significantly improved the quality of its supplied headphones, but we’d still advise upgrading to get the most out of iPod.
