Rugged Canon PowerShot D20 is unveiled

Meet the pocket cam that will take more of a beating than your soft fleshy shell ever will

Canon has revealed a successor to its previous PowerShot D10 tough compact in the form of the PowerShot D20.

This rugged pocket compact has a 12.1MP CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom and the ability to record full HD video. As with the recently unveiled PowerShot SX260 HS and SX240 HS, the PowerShot D20 also has the Movie Digest feature, providing a compilation movie of the first four seconds before each shot to track your adventures.

The real reason you’ll want to nab the PowerShot D20, though, is its toughness. It’s waterproof up to 10m, freezeproof and dustproof – perfect for shallow dives and accident-prone shutterbugs. An optional case with external flash is also available, offering a waterproof depth of 40m.

GPS functionality and filters including fish eye and miniature effects are the icing on top of this rugged £350 cake, which will be awaiting your adventures come May.
