Pictures have emerged showing off what appears to be the new Samsung Hercules – an addition to the super popular Galaxy S2 smartphone line.

Unearthed by TMO and Pocket Now, a couple of pictures clearly display the Galaxy S II moniker on its metal back panel, while from the front its curvaceous body bears close resemblance to the Google Nexus S – also made by Samsung – complete with the row of touch-sensitive buttons, rather than the Galaxy S2’s optical trackpad.

It’s expected to run the latest Gingerbread-flavoured version of Google’s OS, pack a 1.2GHz dual-core processor like its skinny sibling, a whopper 4.5-inch Super AMOLED screen, 1GB RAM and 16GB built-in memory. It’s also rumoured to be the first T-Mobile smartie with 42Mbps HSDPA+. In addition to those specs an 8MP camera with 1080p video capture is on the cards, as is NFC support and a front-facing 2MP camera. Word on the web suggests Samsung’s Hercules could arrive in Canada this month, but until Samsung gives this super-phone the official nod, it’ll remain firmly in rumour territory.
