We were primed and ready for online rock-offs but now Activision has gone and completely blown us away by announcing that Guitar Hero III‘s axe-shaped controllers will be wireless on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and the Wii. Cue sofa leaping guitar solos and living room wrecking crescendos. The musical weapon of choice will be the legendary Gibson Les Paul for the next-gen consoles while the PS2 faithful will be picking up a Gibson Kramer. For the first time we’ll also be able to customise with removable face panels. Sweet. The new playlist includes Alice Cooper’s School’s Out, Muse’s space-rock epic Knights of Cydonia and the Beastie Boys’ storming Sabotage. It all lands in a cloud of dry ice and lasers this autumn, um, around about the same time as Halo 3 and GTA IV. We’re going to be busy, busy gamers.
