Blimey – you wait for a new Walkman phone and three come along at once. Sony Ericsson say that the new 8GB W902, the slinky mid-range W595 and the super-slim budget W302 “go beyond music, expectations and the individual”. We say: “nice phones”.

First up, the candybar W902 marries an 8GB Walkman phone with 5MP Cybershot camera capabilities, 2.2-inch QVGA display and built-in stereo speakers. The music player nav mimics the intuitive controls of the W980i and it comes in Volcanic Black, Wine Red and Earth Green. Or black, red or green.

Its smaller, slider cousin, the W595 is made for sharing in two different ways, with the option of using built-in stereo cones, or a splitter for plugging in two sets of headphones. It packs a smaller 2GB memory stick and 3.2MP cam.

Both come toting HSDPA as standard, as well as the new Walkman phone trilogy of TrackID, Shake and SenseMe to identify mystery tracks, change music at the shake of the handset and organise playlists according to mood.

The non-3G W302 candybar is the option for credit-crunchers, and also the slimmest of the bunch at just 10.5mm. Although that only gets you 512MB of storage, it does manage to squeeze in an FM radio.
