We don’t know about you, but our lounge is so cluttered with tech Indiana Jones would have trouble escaping it without losing his hat. There’s just no room for a surround-sound kit – unless it’s Sony’s new DAV-F200.
This sleek new Bravia promises to avoid the clutter associated with home-cinema kits with a few clever tricks. It’s only a 2.1 system, but the two satellite speakers and sub will apparently combine to create convincing ‘virtual surround’ effect, not to mention a forceful 405W total output.
The main control centre needn’t take up precious floor-space in your lounge either – it can be wall-mounted to keep it safe from the dangers of spilt coffee, or kept on a shelf with your DVD library.
We’re always mildly disappointed when a new Sony home theatre doesn’t support Blu-ray, but the DAV-F200 will upscale your DVDs to 1080p and has an HDMI output so you can fully enjoy Ratatouille on your hi-def telly.
The lack of wireless connectivity is also partially remedied by the presence of a modular digital adaptor, which means you can plug in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adaptors to keep it sweet with your laptop or PC.
