After some leaked snaps/viral marketing, Sony’s Rolly – that’s Rolly SEP-10BT Sound Entertainment Player for long – has arrived. But we’re still not exactly sure what it is.Mixing the DNA of the Sansa Shake, a Segway and Sony’s own Aibo, it’s a two-wheeled, Bluetooth enabled MP3 player that dances (yes, dances).Dancing in this case seems to involve spinning about on its independently rotating wheels. Thankfully you’re not expected to be connected to Rolly as it jigs about – it’ll pipe your tunes from its 1GB memory either wirelessly to stereo Bluetooth cans or via its fold-out loud speakers. And as willing as it is to give, it’ll also receive Bluetooth streams from other A2DP players that can take advantage of its built-in cones.Like the Shake it only has one button, for on or off, with track skipping and volume controlled by twisting the wheels. Bundled software will also let you programme little Rolly to teach him some sophisticated moves – though MC Hammer’s ‘Running Man’ or the YMCA could prove tricky. It’ll be out in Japan later this month and could be over here as fast as those little wheels will let it scurry – but if you ask us, this mad one’s got ‘Japan only’ written all over it.Essentials Sony Rolly SEP-10BT Price: £TBA (¥40,000 in Japan) On sale: TBA (29th September in Japan)Contact: Sony Related stories: Gear4 BlackBoxes crash land in UK New Sony Walkmans ditch ATRAC for AAC Funky young SanDisk shakes to the beat
