As Eurovision rears its comical head for another year, we reckon there’s no better time than now to grab yourself a new set of headphones. After all, a decent pair will help you drown out all that trashy Europop and the UK’s very own mawkish effort, and instead offer up your choice of tunes in glorious detail. Whether you’re on a budget or want some killer cans, we’ve found the deal for you.

Monster Beats, £249, Amazon

Ok, these bad boys aren’t cheap, but this deal prices Dr Dre’s blasters a full £25 cheaper than anywhere else. They’re currently our favourite pair of cans, packing second–to–none, battery–powered noise–cancelling, stunning sound quality and attention detail that you could only expect from NWA’s finest. If you’re serious about your tunes and have got the cash, take advantage of this offer while it lasts.

Currently gracing our very own headphones Top 10, these iGrado over–the–ear cans are going for just £24.99 on Play, down £15 from their RRP. You get far better sound from these than you do a pair of in–ear buds, but be aware they’re leakier than the Titanic, meaning the chances of infuriating fellow commuters is a nigh–on certainty. You’ll struggle to find a better pair of cans under £50.

This exclusive hook–up with Amazon sees Sennheiser’s excellent budget buds get the eco treatment. The earphones are the same top quality as ever, they just come in recycled packaging with no plastic in sight. If you’re wallet’s on the empty side, the CX300’s are an excellent bet. At just £17.99, they’re ideal for first time upgraders, offering snug fit and giving tunes shackled to your phone or iPod greater detail. That means you won’t need to turn the volume to 11 just to hear those whimsical folky tracks you love.

We’ve long been fans of these budget Sennheiser’s and they’re now available for a credit crunch–bashing price of £25 at Pixmania. They’re built with your mobile in mind and are collapsable too, so they don’t create an unholy mess in your bag either. If you have a ravenous appetite for MP3s (which don’t pack the greatest audio quality), these are for you.

We’ve trawled the web, and yet Amazon continues to come up trumps when it comes to headphone deals. We just can’t ignore this one, touting Shure’s affordable SE102 buds for just under £37, when they’ve got a marked price of £75. What do you get? Well, 93 per cent sound isolation and sound control so your head doesn’t get blasted off by all that thrash metal.
