Tesco’s £130 Hudl 2 Tablet could be the best budget tablet yet

Tesco has revealed the successor to its budget Hudl tablet, the Hudl 2, and it could very well be the best budget tablet ever made.
The original Hudl’s most attractive feature was its £120 price tag (now £100), which has helped Tesco shift more than 750,000 units since launch.
While the Hudl 2 is a tad more expensive at £130, it appears to be an improvement in almost every way. If its specs deliver what they promise, this could be the go-to Android tablet for gadgeteers who aren’t fussed about riding the bleeding edge..
For starters, the Hudl 2 been redesigned to be less, well, fat and ugly, and it’ll arrive in eight plastic coloured finishes.
The screen size has bumped up to 8.3in too, with a full HD (1080p) resolution to boot, and rear speakers (bolstered by Dolby’s sound optimisation magic) should make for some decent audio playback when watching movies.
A 5MP camera (minus a flash) graces the rear, while a 1.2MP front-facing camera should take care of blurry selfies and video chatting.
The Hudl 2’s 16GB of memory can be bolstered with a microSD slot, and Android 4.4 KitKat should run smoothly thanks to a 1.8GHz Intel quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The budget tablet king?
Throw in an eight hour battery life and a handful of Tesco and BlinkBox vouchers, and the Hudl 2 is shaping up to be the hottest budget tablet to nab this Christmas.
Its child-safety features will appeal to parents too, allowing them to restrict how long children can use the tablet and what content they can view.
The Hudl 2 will hit shelves on 9 October, and you can even knock the price down to £65 if you throw your Clubcard points towards it.
