Both the TomTom One and One XL have been given a makeover, coming in thinner and with some neat new additions for those who don’t fancy spending more on a satnav than a TV.
Both the XL, with its monster 4.3in screen and the bog standard One, clocking in at 3in, come woth bulked up speakers round the back, so you can be berated in banal tones for powering past your turning and hanging a left down the wrong street.
There’s also a new Easyport which fold flush to the device so you can stick it straight on your pocket for on-the-go mapping once you step out of your car.
Each model now comes with TomTom’s MapShare, so you can alter mistakes on the map, load them up to the interweb and share them with other GPS-fixated drivers. That’s 1.4 million people according to one TomTom suit we spoke to today. One other “facturette” (his word not ours) is that the Dutch mapping giant gets 10,000 corrections via MapShare every day. Hefty.
We’ve also been told that while neither of the newbies come with the jam-busting HD Traffic inside, there will be an add-on available when the hi-def service launches over the summer. Sadly though, the fancy IQ routes software is staying firmly in the top notch GO versions.
The One and One XL are both available today, with the small screen vesion starting at £149, followed by £179 for the XL.
