Wii getting external hard drive?

Rooting around jobs listings on the official Nintendo site isn’t something we’re prone to do. But eagle eyed bloggers have dug up plans by the Japanese gaming giant to hire a “Wii Software/Hardware developer who can develop “a plan for Wii’s USB devices.”

Hmmm, interesting. Nintendo has always said it wasn’t keen to stick a hard drive inside their machine, but have intimated that a USB version could be on the cards.

This now seems highly likely, in spite of comments last week suggesting players who downloaded stacks of content from WiiWare would just have to delete games from their paltry 512MB hard drive.

The Wii will be two years old this Christmas, so what’s the betting that a USB hub will give it a nice bump and keep it top of the charts for another year? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
