We’ve got up close with a developer preview and got another teasing glimpse of Windows 8 on the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga at CES in January but we’ll get some proper hands on time with the OS in just a few weeks time.
Microsoft has just announced the ‘Consumer Preview’ i.e. public beta of Windows 8 will drop on February 29th at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
While we’ll probably still have to wait till October for the official release, the fact that the beta is finally going public means that everyone will be able to download Windows 8 and go for a spin.
Expect an aggressive haul of Windows 8 launch games, Windows Phone-inspired Metro tiles and perhaps an end to the Windows Start button as we know it. We’re excited for this one – and you should be too.
