Fully Charged: Iron Man Galaxy S6 Edge this week, and Mad Max meets Mario Kart

It might be a bank holiday, but things are still happening all around the tech world

Iron Man Galaxy S6 Edge coming this week

We’ve had our share of leaks and official teases already, but before the holiday weekend started, Samsung finally offered up a decent look at the Iron Man-branded Galaxy S6 Edge that will be fully revealed this week. The actual shared image was darkened, but when brightened up (as was done by SlashGear above), we get a decent look at what’s coming.

As seen in the image above, the device has a nicely minimal take on the Marvel hero’s mask on the back. It also appears to have a gold border around both the phone and back camera/flash, as reports suggested, and we assume that’s a red backing as well. We’ll get a full, clearer look at what’s planned sometime this week, although we wonder if there will be a further markup on price, since the S6 Edge is already pricier than the standard S6.

Mario Kart: Fury Road parody

The Internet’s favorite goofy parody clip this weekend was this amusing tweak of the Mad Max: Fury Road trailer using familiar Mario Kart imagery and sounds. It falls somewhere between really inspired and really dumb, but that’s pretty much the perfect middle ground for something like this. It’s already racked up more than 1.5 million views in just a few days, and you can add another to the tally by clicking play above.

BlackBerry has another round of layoffs

BlackBerry has another round of layoffs

On Friday, we heard that Microsoft was eyeing a potential acquisition of BlackBerry (earlier this year, Samsung was rumoured to be doing the deed). Sadly, later that evening, that news was followed up by a report that BlackBerry was laying off workers from its handset division as part of a consolidation move.

BlackBerry confirmed the layoffs on Saturday (but didn’t say how many were affected), saying, "Our intention is to reallocate resources in ways that will best enable us to capitalize on growth opportunities while driving toward sustainable profitability across all facets of our business." In other words, BlackBerry may be doing a little bit better, but the problem’s not yet fixed.

F1 2015 out in July, first trailer

F1 2015 will bring the series to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the first time (along with PC) – but it won’t be ready for June, as expected. Instead, the game will launch on 10 July worldwide, and Codemasters marked the release date announcement with this first trailer. Does it look enhanced enough to make up for the unremarkable F1 2014? Let’s hope so.
