Some of the best truly wireless earbuds out there

BEST IN CLASS

BEST IN CLASS

Jabra presented the Elite Sport a year back, but at that time truly wireless buds weren’t too present in the main game, they were just coming in. Right now though, the ‘truly wireless’ game is raging, so much that everyone wants one. It’s become very common to spot wireless headphones and earphones in and around the city. No one’s going to eyeball and ask what are those. You aren’t a Star Trek character anymore. Everyone wants to get rid of those wires, and the era of the headphone jack just might be over for most brands, but we’re pretty sure audiophiles still need them for Hi-res music and to keep their dignity. The Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless lit our fire and just might be the best amongst all the other wireless buds out there. Here’s why.

SNUG AND SOUND

SNUG AND SOUND

Unlike the AirPods, the Elite 65t look funky, bold and well molded. They’re shaped like the inner part of the ear, so they can blend in seamlessly. They’re also made of a hard plastic that feels light and comfortable on the ear, and if you happen to wear them for a lengthy spell, you’ll probably forget they’re even there. They’ve got a snug fit and don’t fall off that easy (you’ll have to try on different silicon/foam tips to find your perfect fit). To be honest, we’ve dropped them once and we almost skipped a beat, not because we thought one broke, but because we thought we lost it. Thankfully, there’s a ‘Find my Jabra’ option on the Sound+ app (iOS and Android), so you can rest easy.

PUSH THE BUTTON

Unfortunately you can’t take the Jabra’s for a swim, but they’ll easily withstand sweat and rain water droplets. Each of the earbuds have two microphones for calls and commands, and have also been loaded with noise isolating tech to keep out any unwanted sounds. The Jabra Elite 65ts have a lot of other functionalities to play around with too. There are two buttons on the left for volume control and song switching, while there’s another on the right for waking an Alexa, Google, or Siri digital assistant, pausing and playing songs, and switching to ‘HeartThrough’ mode.

CHARGE 'EM UP

CHARGE ‘EM UP

Imagine the Elite 65t’s as your digital pet. All pets need a home, and the Jabras come with a semi-circular hard plastic box to keep ‘em safe and (more importantly) keep them fully charged. The earbuds are pretty easy to use once fully set up and connected to your phone. Just remove them from the box and plug ‘em into you ears. That’s really it. Once they’re back in the box, the Jabra’s sit tight and automatically turn off to recharge. As for battery life, it’s usually a big concern when it comes to wireless connectivity, and while the Jabras only serve up to 5 hours of battery (15 hours with the case = two whole cycles) per charge, they can rapid charge in 15 min to give you an hour’s worth of play time.

GO HOME, JABRA

As for the case itself, we reckon the open/close clipper that secures it should’ve been magnetic instead of a simple clip. Since the clip goes through a lot of open-close-open action, it tends to wear off over time. And if you’re fidgety like us, you might find yourself playing with it. Anyway, we’re still okay with the common micro USB charging port on the box instead of the Type-C. The box and the earbuds have LED lights which glow in red, yellow and green while the Jabras are charging, so it’s easy to know when your buds are low on energy or fully charged. Anyway, that’s enough box chat. How do they sound?

TOP-NOTCH (FOR THE PRICE TAG)

When it comes to music quality, the Jabras don’t fail to impress. Although, one small niggle we noticed was a slight frequency overlap, which has a tendency to add emphasis onto some midrange, bass, and treble audio. Nevertheless, the Elite 65t are completely immersive, and deliver sumptuous heavy bass notes alongside pitch-perfect mids and highs. For the $170 price tag, you really aren’t going to do much better, and unless you’re an audiophile looking for something truly miraculous, the Elite 65t’s will be a worthy option.

A WORTHY CONTENDER

A WORTHY CONTENDER

The Jabra Elite 65t’s have proven to be the best among the lot, especially considering their price. The snug fit, superb connectivity, fast-charging battery, cute little safety-cum-charging box, and great music quality make these truly wireless earphones a sound option. We absolutely loved every minute we spent with them, and we’d probably wear them all day long if we could. Maybe we’re addicted? So, if you’re looking to buy a pair of wireless buds that aren’t too expensive, tick all the boxes in terms of practicality, and deliver great audio, then the Jabras might very well be the answer to your prayers.
