Assassin’s Creed VR Experience
Ubisoft won’t release a new mainline Assassin’s Creed game this year, but the franchise is hardly taking 2016 off. Two downloadable Chronicles games were already released, and come December, a live-action Assassin’s Creed film (shown above) will be released with Michael Fassbender in the lead role. And it will be flanked by a VR experience, as Ubisoft revealed this week.
It sounds like Ubisoft isn’t taking lead on this project, since it’s a movie tie-in: Fox and studio Practical Magic will create the VR app instead. Matthew Lewis of Practical Magic says it’s not a game, according to Polygon, but they shot footage alongside the movie in locations like Spain, Malta, and the UK. We’ll probably see it close to the film’s release on 21 December.
And Ubisoft itself announced another VR project: Werewolves Within is an online multiplayer adaptation of Werewolf, the great party card game. It’ll be released for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR this autumn, and you can head over to Ubi’s blog to catch the trailer with behind-the-scenes interviews.
Apple Music adds remixes and DJ sets
Big fan of remixes and DJ sets? Then your ideal streaming service might now be Apple Music, as Apple has reached a deal with Dubset Media Holdings to bring "thousands upon thousands of cool mash-ups and hour-long mixes" to the service, writes Billboard.
The biggest hurdle to adding such tracks to streaming services was ownership of samples and component tracks, since everyone needs to be paid for their part of a composition. But Dubset’s technology can analyse a track to figure out which tracks are sampled, and then ensure that labels and artists get properly compensated. Dubset has deals with more than 14,000 music labels and publishers, so that bodes well for a wider array of dance and DJ-mixed tunes on Apple Music.
Speaking of: electronic dance music superstar Deadmau5 just got his own show on Apple’s Beats 1 streaming radio station, called Mau5trap Presents, and it will air weekly starting this Friday.

Tesla confirms Model 3 debut
It’s officially happening: Tesla Motors confirmed yesterday that the Model 3, the company’s most affordable electric car to date, will be unveiled on 31 March. Tesla will hold a media event in Los Angeles, and it sounds like it will also stream on Tesla’s website.
As for attendees, they might even be able to drive the Model 3, with the invite saying press members can "take a quick spin in what we’ve been working on." That’s good news for anyone hoping the project is nearing completion, with a 2017 release long expected from the cheaper EV.
