Fully Charged: Gears of War 4 dated, and Facebook amplifies its live streaming

Gears of War 4 release date
Gears of War 4 is sure to be one of this autumn’s biggest Xbox One exclusives, and now we know exactly when it will release: 11 October worldwide. It’s The Coalition’s first new entry in the series, after Epic Games created the franchise and shepherded previous games, and it promises to be another super-aggro shooter to liven up the holidays.
This week’s news comes just a couple weeks before the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta kicks off. It’ll be open exclusively to buyers of last year’s Gears of War: Ultimate Edition starting on 18 April, while every other Xbox Live Gold member can join in on 25 April until the beta ends for everyone on 1 May.

Facebook upgrades live streaming
If you use Facebook as much as we do, you might’ve already noticed the change yesterday – but if not, the social networking giant has opened up and amplified its live streaming functionality. Now you can broadcast publicly to all, or select groups and events, as well as browse live feeds from users who aren’t your friends.
Facebook Live looks to be a huge part of the experience going forward, especially on mobile, as Twitter’s Periscope currently leads the conversation in that category. Now you can offer an even-more-personal window into your daily life – just make sure you check your settings before sharing too much.

Amazing Game Boy mod
We thought the fan-made Game Boy Macro was pretty fantastic, but this Game Boy Zero might have it beat. It’s a modified original Game Boy with a brand new colour screen, a couple of extra buttons, and a Raspberry Pi within.
The custom-made cartridge has a microSD card reader, and you can play a massive array of classic games via emulator. It also has a rechargeable battery with USB charging, plus a mini HDMI output to link up to your TV. Best Game Boy ever? Yeah, we’d say so – but unfortunately, the creator doesn’t seem intent on selling these DIY wonders.
