Fully Charged: Google might poll for Android N name, and more Xbox 360 games for Xbox One
Friday morning's top news bits, all in a neat little package
Google could crowdsource Android N name
Marshmallow, Lollipop, KitKat, and a few more before: Google’s sweet treat naming process for Android continues unabated, and it seems like to continue that way. But the next time around, the company might ask its users to pick the dessert or candy favourite that provides the inspiration for the OS branding.
That’s according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who held a live Q&A at Delhi University yesterday. When asked why Indian sweets hadn’t made the cut, Pichai said next time he would ask his mother first, but then consider holding an online poll where Indians (and everyone else) could come out in full force for a new Android N name.
His response was light and came after a burst of laughter, so it’s unclear whether he was letting out a bit of truth or just trying to appease the questioner. However, if you’ve got a favourite "N" treat, now’s the time to start campaigning for a potential vote next year.

New Xbox 360 games for Xbox One
Microsoft promised regular updates to the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility list for Xbox One, and the company just delivered with another 16 entries to join the 100+ beginning games last month.
Big highlights on the list include AAA favourites like Halo: Reach, Fable III, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as well as the very underrated Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days. And you’ll find some great Xbox Live Arcade entries, as well, such as Braid, Peggle, Spelunky, Splosion Man, Portal: Still Alive, and Hydro Thunder. Simon Pegg didn’t love the Star Trek trailer
Simon Pegg has an even bigger role in next year’s Star Trek Beyond: not only is he still a co-star in the role of Scotty, but now he’s also co-written the script with a few other compatriots. This week’s first trailer (above) wasn’t too warmly received by many fans, and well… apparently he didn’t adore it either.
"I didn’t love it because I know there’s a lot more to the film," he told Hey U Guys in a red carpet interview (for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, actually). "There’s a lot more character, a lot more story, and a lot more, what I would call, ‘Star Trek stuff.’"
Pegg acknowledged that marketing folks need to pull in audiences, and that action is a big part of that, but urged that Star Trek fans "hang in there" and "be patient." Sounds like he didn’t love his story shown off in such a one-sided manner, but it’s refreshing to hear a voice of honesty in an industry dominated by canned, ever-positive quotes. Catch the interview clip at the source below.
