Got yourself an Xbox Live Gold subscription? Did you know it grants you a load of free games every month? They’re only available to download for a few weeks apiece, but they’re yours to keep as long as you keep paying the subscription fee. So what’s coming up in October? This little lot, and don’t forget to download September’s offering before the end of the month.
Overcooked! (Xbox One)
Overcooked! is a true local multiplayer gem, tasking you and your mates with preparing a variety of meals in dangerous, hazard-filled stages. It’s great for a laugh, and free all throughout October. Pull it out at your next party, assuming you have a few extra controllers handy.
Livelock (Xbox One)
Livelock’s artwork makes it look like a second cousin of Destiny, but rather than a vast, shared-world shooter, this top-down blaster aims for more arcade-like thrills. It looks like simple, straightforward fun, and is surely best enjoyed in the three-player co-op mode. Grab it until 15 October.
Victor Vran (Xbox One)
In the mood for a Diablo-esque, hack-and-slash dungeon-crawler? If so, then Victor Vran might be right up your alley. It might not be as polished as Blizzard’s classic, but at the unbeatable price of totally free, you can’t argue too much. This one’s free from 16 October through 15 November.
Stuntman Ignition (Xbox One/Xbox 360)
Ever wanted to be the guy or gal who straps into the car or motorcycle and pulls off an amazing stunt? Now you can in Stuntman Ignition without breaking a sweat (or your back). This 11-year old Xbox 360 game also plays on Xbox One, and it’s free between 1-15 October.
Hitman: Blood Money (Xbox One/Xbox 360)
Before the new Hitman 2 releases in November, loop back on the great last-gen Hitman: Blood Money. It’s not quite as open or dynamic as the current games, but still provides entertaining execution missions with a solid amount of tactical freedom. Grab it between 16-31 October.
