These are the PC games you can play for free with Twitch Prime in October
Got Amazon Prime and a PC? Then you’ve also got Twitch Prime – the game-streaming service that airs esports competitions and, more importantly, gets you a selection of free games every month. They’re yours to keep forever and this month there’s a creepy selection to keep you entertained until Halloween. Here’s what’s waiting for you on the other side.
SOMA
Perfectly timed for October, SOMA is one of the eeriest and most unsettling – yet actually brilliant – games you’ll find on PC. It’s a first-person game set in an underwater facility, kind of like BioShock’s rapture… only the machines think they’re human and now you’re trapped there. Enjoy the disconcerting atmosphere.
Darksiders: Warmastered Edition
We have no idea whether next month’s Darksiders III will be any good, but there’s no doubt that the 2010 original was awesome for its time. It’s part Zelda, part Devil May Cry, and all incredibly compelling as you command one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in a hack-and-slash quest to restore his good name and seek revenge.
System Shock: Enhanced Edition
Nearly 25 years after its release, System Shock’s influence is still felt in gaming, as its narrative-driven first-person approach led to games like BioShock and Deus Ex, among many others. Now you can revisit the original in this Enhanced Edition, which modernises the experience in key ways without losing the classic spirit.
Sanitarium
Here’s one more game designed to freak you out this Halloween season. Released in 1998, Sanitarium is a point-and-click adventure that sees you waking up after a car crash and finding yourself inside an asylum. What the hell happened? Once you see some of the freakish sights outside your room, you might not actually want to find out.
