Sony’s giant OLED TV doesn’t need a speaker to deliver killer sound
77in vibrator, anyone?

You usually buy an OLED television for its rich, high-contrast picture quality, with its sonic capabilities coming a very distant second, but the new Sony Bravia A1 wants to make sound a selling point once again. That it’s done that by removing all trace of speakers from the 77in TV might seem truly bizarre, but hold on just one second – because those speakers have been replaced by something Sony claims is far, far better: Acoustic Surface technology. Basically, the whole TV surface vibrates to make sound. It’s expected to cost from £4000 upwards, but it’ll be the talk of the neighbourhood if you can stretch to one.
