Toshiba 2022’s UK TV range boasts Quantum Dot and Amazon Fire TV sets
Well-priced 2022 Ultra HD range starts from £349
Toshiba has revealed a stack of new TVs featuring Quantum Dot QLED tech as well as introing Amazon Fire TV into its UK range. It’s previously produced TVs featuring both technologies in other countries, notably the Fire TV sets it’s offered in the US for a couple of years.
These are totally new models, however – the QA5D (above) is a Quantum Dot model available in 43, 50, 55 and 65-inch models starting at £349 and rising to £649.
The QA5D has an almost-frameless design; Toshiba calls it frameless but it’s certainly not that, but then it isn’t alone in saying its bezels are non-existent. The frame goes around a fine package though; the QA5D also features Onkyo-enhanced audio and uses Toshiba’s full TRU Picture Engine and offers both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. It’s based on the Android TV platform with Google Assistant (via the voice remote) and Chromecast built-in. The Toshiba QL5D is another model that’s essentially the same TV but with Tosh’s own OS running the show.
The UF3D 4K TV is available in the same sizes as the QA5D from £369 and brings Amazon Fire TV to the party. Naturally, you get Alexa on board, too. These also feature Onkyo-enhanced audio plus Dolby Vision and Atmos. There’s AirPlay support for Apple devices, too. The UK4D (pictured above) is another variant model with Toshiba’s own OS while the UA3D (below) offers Android TV to sit under the QA5D as a second Google-powered option.
All the 2022 Toshiba models also have Freeview Play built-in so you can access live TV easily through the guide plus on-demand content from sources like BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub if you scroll back through the listings.
