Saroléa’s 155mph electric superbike hits 60mph in less than 3 seconds
This two-wheeled carbon fibre monster lives for speed
That’s a serious looking bike
It sure is. It might not have the sleek angular lines of a Kawasaki Ninja, but the Saroléa SP7 is an entirely different kind of beast.
It’s an all-electric superbike, with one aim – to tear up the tarmac at the electric-only 37-mile Isle of Man TT Zero mountain course in June.
That’s a big ask for something weighed down by heavy batteries
While the SP7’s 200kg weight won’t go easy on the scales, it manages to shave off some precious pounds with a frame that’s forged entirely from lightweight carbon fibre.
Throw in 180HP and 295 ft-lbs of torque, and you’re straddling a monster that can hit 60mph in a mere 2.8 seconds, before reaching an eye-watering top speed of 155mph.
Can I charge it up with a microUSB cable?
…
The SP7 has an axial flux motor which means that the flow of its electric field flows along the axis of the motor, insead of outwards and away from it. That means that it can use thinner and lighter pancake rotors, reducing the weight even further.
It’s all rather sophisticated. So to answer your question, no, you probably can’t use a microUSB cable to juice it up.
Well then, I don’t want one anymore
It’s a good thing you’re not racing it then isn’t it? Because that’s the only way you’ll ever be able to take one for a high-speed spin.
