Leica V-Lux 20 adds GPS skills

Think Leica and you can almost smell the developing fluid. But the company’s latest digital camera – with GPS and HD movie capture – is a far cry

Think Leica and you can almost smell the developing fluid. But the company’s latest digital camera – with GPS and HD movie capture – is a far cry from the 35mm snappers that made its name.

The compact 12.1MP V-Lux 20 crams a 12x zoom lens into its 33mm-thin body and is backed with a 3in LCD. It’s Leica’s first camera to use GPS geotagging to log location data on your holiday snaps.

It also boasts face recognition, automatic scene modes and smart exposure, features that also work when the V-Lux 20 is shooting video at 720p.

The camera will be available from May for £495. Budget an extra £70 for a branded leather case.
