These full-size closed headphones are based on the incredible Denon AH-D5000s which lead our Headphones Top 10.

The most obvious difference is the lack of wooden finish on the earpiece backs. We’re certainly hoping that they deliver the same sort of performance, though.

The AH-D2000s pack an Acoustic Optimizer feature as well as ultra-rigid microfibre diaphragms to make them perform more like high fidelity open-backed models, while usefully still cutting down outside noise.

Now if, like us, you listen to music without headphones when at home, you might find it hard to make a place for these in your life. But if you watch a lot of action movies late at night, or just have a small pad with thin walls then these could prove to be a great investment. Though, having said that, you’ll need to have a top end system to really make the most of them.

At £250, they’re in direct competition with the open-backed Sennheiser HD 650s – we’ll let you know how they match up as soon as we get some in for review.
