Getac has a habit of cranking out super hardcore gadgets, like their V100 lappie come tablet. And now they’re going where the JCB Toughphone and Samsung Solid have gone before, launching a heavy duty PDA, the snappily named PS535E.
Loaded with GPS the PDA is aimed at rugged types who earn their crust looking double hard on construction sites or taking down terror cells in Helmand.
Like the JCB blower, the PS353E is water-resistant, can deal with dust and will take a knock or two to boot. Okay, you can’t make calls, but then who needs to?
The LCD comes with ‘Sunlight Readable Technology’ which Getac reliably informs us intensifies the screen’s visibility. So you can check out comedy round robin emails in the most blinding of sunlight. Nice.
Specs-wise, you’ll find GPS as standard, WiFi and Bluetooth, along with a hefty battery for eight hours of ‘active use’. There’s also 2GB of memory, which can be beefed up to 6GB if it takes your fancy.
It clocks in at 300 grams and measures just shy of 30mm across. If you’re rock solid, and not a wee gadget loving fairy like us, we reckon it’s a keeper.
