Bring the noise

In case you’ve been avoiding the calendar, we’re rapidly approaching December, which means that at some point in the next month you’re almost certainly going to be forced to sit through a rubbish festive-appropriate film. It’s a good time, then, for Polk to launch its latest sound bar setup in the UK, so at least said bad film will sound the part. The MagniFi Max SR comes loaded with Polk’s own Voice Adjust feature, as well as Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) technology, designed to deliver an appropriately epic sound stage regardless of which sofa you’re plonked on. But the sound bar really comes to life once connected to the bundled wireless speakers, all of which combine for a true 5.1 surround system. If it gets too noisy, integrated Google Home functionality means you can turn the volume down a few notches with your voice alone, because reaching for the remote is starting to feel very outdated indeed. MagniFi Max SR will be available to buy from Demember for £699.

About

I'm fascinated by all things tech, but if you were going to leave me on a desert island, I'd probably ask for my Nintendo Switch, a drone, and a pair of noise-cancelling cans to block out the relentless seagull racket. When I'm not on Stuff duty you'll probably find me subscribing to too many podcasts, playing too many video games, or telling anyone who will listen that Spurs are going to win a trophy this season.

Areas of expertise

Video games, VR, smartwatches, headphones, smart speakers, bizarre Kickstarter campaigns
