iPhone 5 racks up two million pre-orders

24-hour pre-order total breaks the record of one million set by the iPhone 4S

Apple has revealed that the iPhone 5 received two million pre-orders in 24 hours, making it the most pre-ordered mobile phone of all time. It has smashed the previous record, held by the iPhone 4S, which got “just” one million pre-orders in its initial 24 hours.

The iPhone 5 will go on sale this Friday, 21 September, at 8am. The 16GB model will cost £530, the 32GB model £600 and the 64GB model £700.
