Why now is the best time to trade in your old iPhone ahead of the iPhone 14 release

iPhone next to larger iPhone

If you’re thinking of trading in your old iPhone ahead of the iPhone 14 release, then you’d better get a move on.

Many comparison sites reckon you have a few days after the announcement of a new iPhone to sell or upgrade in order to get the best trade-in price. It won’t be as good as it might have been a few days ago, but it’ll still be high.

Trade-in sites are always telling us how much unused tech we’re sitting on generally. New research from MusicMagpie also reveals that the unused tech around the home is worth £23.6 billion across UK households, a 41% increase compared to the start of the pandemic. Now that seems a bit of a steep rise to us, but the key figure is that the average UK household is sitting on hundreds of pounds of unused tech generally – MusicMagpie reckons this could be an average of over £800 worth.

“According to Stephen Covey, author of the best-selling book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People we are most likely to procrastinate over tasks that are deemed ‘non urgent’ and ‘non important’ and sorting through our old devices would fall into this category for most.”
