Why improve technology? So that, in a few years, we can make something new that works like something old. Stick it in a pretty shell, call it retro and we’ll lap it up – just like this US$100 Lofree mechanical keyboard. Inspired by the trusty typewriter, it’s got rounded keycaps like your Nan loves and will play nice with all sorts of kit, including Mac and Windows machines. Besides a reassuring clunk with every letter, it can pair with three devices at once. Oh, and there’s a backlight, for those late-night essays on how things were better in the days of yore.
