Arcam Solo goes on Mini adventure

Arcam’s mission to banish hi-fi separates continues apace with this latest addition to its Solo one-box range.

The new Mini is even sleeker and smaller than the old yet packs just as mighty a punch, cramming an ‘audiophile grade’ slot-loading CD player, DAB/FM/AM tuner and easy hook-up to your faithful iPod into an aluminium-faced, heavy metal box.

As if that’s not enough, it’ll also double as your radio alarm and handle home-brew CD-Rs loaded with MP3s or WMAs.

Being smaller than some other models in the Solo range it doesn’t quite manage eardrum-bursting volumes, but Arcam promises there’s enough in the tank for parties, thanks to a 25W linear amp.

Built-in RS232 makes it simple to hook up for whole-house integration, or you can pair it with Arcam’s matching Muso cones and £500 Logo sub.

Now if only Arcam could lend us some of its shrinking powder for our beer bellies, we’d be beach-fit for the summer.
